
On September 29, 2025, China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment (CFSA) issued seven new food additives for public comments, including:
- two new enzymes,
- one new food spice,
- one new food nutrition enhancer,
- one food additive with expanded scope, and
- two food additives with additional requirements for quality specifications.
Comments are welcomed before October 29, 2025. Details are as follows:
New enzyme preparations for the food industry (two types)

The quality specification requirements of enzyme preparations for food industry should be in accordance with the provisions of National Standard for Food Safety Food Additives Enzyme Preparations for Food Industry (GB 1886.174).
New food spice (one type)
2-methyl-1-(2-(5-(p-tolyl)-1H-imidazol-2-yl) piperidin-1-yl) butan-1-one

These quality specification requirements apply to the food additive 2-Methyl-1-[2-(5-(p-tolyl)-1H-imidazol-2-yl)piperidin-1-yl]butan-1-one, which is produced by a chemical reaction using piperidic acid and 2-methylbutanoyl chloride as raw materials.
New food nutrition enhancers (one type)
Lacto-N-tetraose, LNT
The quality specification requirements for Lacto-N-tetraose (LNT) shall comply with the provisions outlined in China CFSA Collects Public Comments on Eight New Food Additives, including Aminopeptidase, 3-FL, LNT, under the section concerning the nutritional fortifier Lacto-N-tetraose, excluding the production strain information specified in Appendix C for Lacto-N-tetraose. The information on the production strain used for this new nutritional fortifier variety is provided in the table below.

The quality specification requirements for this substance shall be implemented in accordance with the National Health Commission Announcement No. 8 of 2023 (excluding the production microorganism information for 2’-fucosyllactose in Appendix C). The production microorganism information for this new nutritional fortifier is listed in the table below.
