China: Multiple GB 30000 Rules for Classification and Labelling of Chemicals National Standards Proposed for Revision

On December 23, 2025, the Department of Science and Technology of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), in accordance with the overall arrangements for standardization work, issued a public announcement soliciting opinions on the proposed formulation and revision plans for 16 mandatory national standards, including Dissolved Acetylene. The list of standards proposed for establishment has been made public.

The standards planned for revision primarily include several key parts of the GB 30000 series Rules for Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. The specific revision plans are as follows:

The aforementioned standards specify the terminology, definitions, classification criteria, decision logic, and labelling requirements for hazardous chemicals. They are applicable to the classification and labelling of relevant chemicals according to the United Nations' Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS). This revision aims to align test methods with GHS Revision 11 and to harmonize the annex contents across the GB 30000 series of standards.

It is reported that Rules for classification and labelling of chemicals - Part 7: Flammable liquids (GB 30000.7-2013) and Rules for classification and labelling of chemicals - Part 15: Oxidizing solids (GB 30000.15-2013) are also slated to undergo revision in the near future. Furthermore, other standards within the GB 30000 series will be revised in batches successively.

If you have any comments or objections regarding the proposed standard projects, please fill out the Standard Project Feedback Form during the public consultation period (December 24, 2025, to December 30, 2025) and submit it to the Department of Science and Technology via the contact details provided on the official MIIT website.

Relevant enterprises should closely monitor the development of these standards and track the revision progress promptly. The new standards may introduce updated requirements concerning chemical hazard classification, safety labels, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
