    CFDA Issued Implementation Rules on Food Safety Supervision and Casual Inspection (2018 version)

    In order to further standardize the food safety supervision and inspection, better prevent and control the food safety risk, guarantee the steady and healthy development of the food industry, CFDA issued a notice on the release of 2018 Food Safety Casual Inspection Plan on 8 January, 2018. Soon afterwards, Implementation Rules on Food Safety Supervision and Casual Inspection (2018 Version) was released on 24 January, 2018.

    1. Varieties of Sampling Food

    The Casual Inspection Plan covers 33 main categories, including common food, special food and food additives.

    1.1 Common food involves grain processed products, edible oil and fats and their products, condiment, meat products, dairy products, beverages, convenience food, biscuits, canned food, frozen beverages, quick-frozen food, potato food and puffed food, candy products, tea and related products, liquor, vegetable products, fruit products, fried food and nut products, egg products, cocoa and baked coffee products, edible sugar, aquatic products, starch and its products, pastry, bean products, bee products and restaurant food.

    1.2 Special food involves health food, foods for special medical purpose (FSMP) and infant formula.

    1.3 Food additives involve thickeners, compound food additives, food flavors, preservatives and sweeteners.
