Analysis of Application Approval of New Food-Related Products (Food Contact Additives and Resins) in 2020

In 2020, the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China (NHC) issued a total of 3 announcements on the form of "Three New Foods” (No. 4, 2020, No. 6, 2020, and No. 8, 2020). “Three New Foods” are new food raw materials, new food additives, and new food-related products (herein "new food contact additives and resins"). There were 80 “Three New Foods” products approved this year. Among them, there were a total of 46 new food contact additives and resins (including expanded use) approved.

Besides, from the website of NHC and China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment (CFSA), a total of 39 new food contact additives and resins application were officially accepted and 36 of public comments on food contact additives and resins (including expanded use) were issued for public comments.
